BPC-157, short for Body Protection Compound-157, is a synthetic peptide of fifteen amino acids whose sequence was identified within a larger protein isolated from gastric juice. Published research, almost entirely in cell and animal models, concerns healing models in tendon, ligament, muscle and gastrointestinal tissue, the formation of new blood vessels, and nitric-oxide signaling. A large share of the literature comes from a single research group, which is worth weighing when reading it. It is not an approved product.
